“HBU Veterans withdraw from HeilBronn tournament”

Posted by  on August 15, 2011

HBU veterans have unfortunately had to withdraw from a veterans tournament in HeilBronn, Germany on 17th & 18th September. The decision was not taken lightly. However due to unforeseen work commitments 3 (potentially 4) of the players had to pull out.

HBU coach Phil McVey said: “It is very disappointing. We were all looking forward to the trip. I have apologised to our German friends for having to withdraw, however sometimes these things happen. At HBU we always try to honour our commitments. We do not like letting anyone down, especially our good friends in Heilbronn. Hopefully we will be able to attend next year. Our Vets team like to do 2 or 3 tournaments a year. Withdrawing from Heilbronn means our next tournament is the EVRICUP which is in 12 months time in Valkensvaard Holland.  Hopefully we will be able to attend a tournament before then. Veterans hockey is becoming a big thing in Europe now. More and more teams are discovering the huge amount of enjoyment and the extremely high standard of hockey being played. Not only is the hockey excellent but old friendships are renewed and new friendships formed. At HBU we have recognised the importance of Veteran’s roller hockey in Europe, and we want to do everything we can to support it.”
