HBU Eastern Counties Under 15’s Have a tough time to start and have points to work on!
Under 15s
Eastern Counties Sunday 28 October Soham
HBU had 3 matches v Bury St Edmunds, Ely and Kings Lynn but do not meet Cottenham until the next tournament at the end of November. There are 5 teams in the league and each team plays each other 4 times during the season.
This was the season’s first outing for the HBU U15 team and a full squad of players was captained by Josh Branchett. Eastern Counties is the home base of England Roller Hockey and participation in this league sets a formidable challenge for the HBU players. The tournament marked an excellent debut by new goalkeeper Luigi Walker.
HBU v Bury 5 – 5 (half time 3 – 3)
A very even match from start to finish.
HBU scorers Mount (2), Branchett, McVey, Will Parkinson-Wellard.
HBU v Ely 9 – 2 (half time 6 – 2)
HBU got off to a good start with a quick goal from Alex Mount but Ely equalised almost immediately. After that HBU ran in 3 more goals before Ely scored in reply. HBU ended the half 4 up. HBU rotated their players in the second half and kept Ely out while scoring 3 themselves.
HBU scorers: Mount (4), Branchett (2), McVey, Daly, Will Parkinson-Wellard
HBU v Kings Lynn 0 – 2 (half time 0 – 1)
HBU had the majority of the play but could not produce many scoring chances and missed the few that there were. With a very strong goalkeeper behind them, Kings Lynn were disciplined in defence and scored from breakaways near the end of each half.
We now know the opposition and know where we must improve.
